Raptors

Sun Aug 16, 2009, 5:17 AM
I went to a raptor program with Bill Streeter from the Delaware Valley Raptor Center last night and have started posting the photos. There are more to come in the next day or two. Unfortunately it was somewhat dark in the pavillion so I needed to use flash in partial light so they're not all perfect but there are some pretty okay shots.

There are photos of the famous golden eagle Julia that I will post eventually. I took so many pictures it's taking a while to go through them all.

Bill will be doing another public program in Dingman's Ferry, PA on the 20th of this month and at Bethel Woods (the site of Woodstock) on the 20th of next month.

That sure looks to be a sphinx moth, also known as a hawk moth. I had to check your location since it's no species I recognize from North America but it looks like this Eurasian one:

They're pretty little things. White lined sphinxes have been coming around here (up in the Catskills) lately.
